We came here to celebrate my friend's birthday and were very pleased with the restaurant's hospitality. The food is better than other Chinese restaurants I've been to in SD--simple yet flavorful and delicious. We ordered BBQ pork, crispy pork, noodles in XO sauce, and two types of veggie dishes which were all delicious. After finishing our meal, my friends brought out a cake to celebrate the birthday. The owners were so kind and friendly that they joined our table for the celebration and even treated us to complimentary beer, wine and desserts. It was definitely a night to remember and we love it. The ambiance of the restaurant was nice--not overcrowded and loud like many other restaurants. Instead, it had an upscale and intimate environment. Thank you, Taste of Hong Kong. We will come back for more fun events in the future.

Well It's Time !! I had to review this Restaurant !! First it is located in a kind of small Shopping Center and it does fill up quickly so the parking is you probably know about Convoy Street Parking but during Lunch time we get lucky and we tend to always find a parking space . Well let me tell you !! This Restaurant is probably the best Chinese Restaurant I have eaten in awhile !! The food has good flavor and it tastes very delicious !! I have to say it's Very Comparable to Jasmine or Emerald on Convoy but after coming here it's at the top of my list for Best Chinese Restaurant in San Diego !! The one thing is during Dinner time it gets really busy and the workers tend to forget about you because it gets crowded and the restaurant fills up quickly !! Now we got the Sweet and Sour Pork it is on Point !! I suggest you give it a try !! Next the Snow Pea Fish is so darn good !! As for there string beans oh boy it is nice a Krispy and Bursting with the flavor of authentic Chinese food !! Cantonese Food here is authentic as it gets !! Lots of Seating inside and located really close to Mana BBQ on Convoy !! Across the Street from H- Mart . Well everything we ordered here is dam delicious and I highly recommend you try this restaurant out and see for yourself !! I surely will return and enjoy More !!!

We came around 5 pm on a Friday and it was completely empty so we were seated right away but it did get pretty full by the time we left. Service was quick and friendly. We ordered the sizzling pepper fillet steak, salt and pepper pork chop, chicken fried rice and Singapore style noodles. Everything was so delicious!! The sizzling steak was so tender and flavorful, the salt and pepper pork chop was so nice and crispy with the right amount of flavor and saltiness. The dishes were a little on the pricier side but the portions were pretty large. The only downside was they charge $6 for tea which we didn't expect cause other Chinese restaurants don't do this. Overall, super solid Cantonese restaurant and I would definitely recommend it!

My second time coming back! Was easy to get seated on a Friday dinner around 5PM but when I left it was getting packed. We ordered chicken fried rice, Singapore noodles, salt and pepper pork chops, and sizzling beef fillet. It was all very delicious and generous portions, although on the pricey side. I also did not expect to be charged $6 for the tea (FYI). One of the best Cantonese restaurants in SD give it a try!

Since moving from Chicago, it's been challenging to find good Chinese food. Chicago Chinese food just hits different. However, I recently discovered Taste of Hong Kong and decided to give it a try because of their traditional Hong Kong-style dishes. The food was great, although the portions were on the smaller side. Here's what I tried: - Salted Egg Yolk Wings. These were uniquely delicious, and I definitely encourage people to try them. - Honey Walnut Shrimp. Cooked well and very tasty. - Cantonese Style Pan Fried Noodles: These tasted great and were a highlight of the meal. The service was decently friendly, which made for a pleasant dining experience. I'll definitely be back!

Ambience here is more of like olden hk days. Customer here are mix of Ogs and american. I dove in for crispy fried noodles. That is my baseline on how good a chinese restaurant is. This by far the cleanest taste of a chinese dish I have eaten in SD. It didnt give the 1kg MSG in your tongue. I get nauseous if there is a lotnof msg. For MSG sensitive people, this is a good place to eat. I havent tried the Crispy pork belly which was hard to find in the menu. I was looking forward to eating it. Ill be back soon for that. Instead i ordered the braised pork belly. That is on a different note. Id be back here for the Fillet steak tho it is not on a sizzling plate which made me think the lady gave a wrong order. I would want to come back for another round of young chow fried rice. The bittermelon isnt giving black bean taste. I would make that at home instead! All their meat doesnt come with rice so you have to order rice. Price is hefty. Spent 150 here with tip. Since everything is almost $18 and above. It is a Chinese restaurant and you got to order everything. :))

This was my second visit. First time I came alone, ordering the cucumber salad and honey BBQ pork with a side of rice. I was pleased with both items, but realized I needed a companion to properly enjoy the restaurant. Happily my waiter gave me coupon for a return visit. Today I made a reservation for 2 through Yelp, received a confirmation and arrived a few minutes early. They didn't have a record of my reservation--said Yelp didn't let them know. There was a long wait list and I was about to leave, very disgruntled, but they made it right, once I showed them the e-mail I had received confirming the reservation. This time we ordered honey walnut shrimp and house chow mein. The shrimp was delicious and a very generous serving, even at $25.99. The chow mein was excellent, with thick noodles and a variety of meats, all cooked properly. I was disappointed at first when our planned meal of beef chow fun was unavailable--they had run out of the rice noodles. Our waitress suggested the chow mein as a substitute and it turned out to be excellent. Again a generous serving--we went home with enough food for another full meal. I look forward to returning someday, without a coupon, and trying the peking duck for a special occasion meal.

Absolutely excellent Cantonese food. I wish I had remembered to take photographs. I've been three times, and every time each dish hit the mark. The hot and sour soup has an earthiness to it and definitely a bit of spice. Another favorite dish is the beef with pepper and ginger. Even honey walnut shrimp, not usually one of my favorites, was excellent here - the shrimp were crispy and very lightly battered, and the sweet sauce was lightly applied and not too laden with mayonnaise, Pea leaves with garlic were a delightful choice for greens. Portions are ample and pricing is reasonable. Extra points for customer service. I originally made a reservation for a Saturday night dinner. When I called to confirm, the restaurant said they did not see my reservation and further, they were fully booked that night and could not accommodate my party. I was disappointed, but I understand that mistakes happen. On the Saturday in question, the restaurant called to tell me that they'd had a cancellation, and now could accommodate my party. I very much appreciate that the restaurant clearly did not like disappointing me, and must have made a note to call me if an opening occurred. I'm glad they did - we had a most excellent meal!

Came in kinda late on a Sunday evening, and the place was still 90% full. This is a full service Cantonese restaurant, complete with hanging ducks. Our server was fast, efficient, and our food was out quickly. This place seemed to be a bit on the fancier side as two pairs of chopsticks were presented per person (one for serving, one for eating). Also complimentary tea came out without having to ask (THANK YOU!) We ordered what is probably too much food for two people, but that seems to be my M.O. at cantonese places as I can't help myself. Note that this place is NOT a fast or cheap Chinese take out - and the price reflects it. Still everything I described was just over $100, and the quality of the food exceeds that price point IMHO. We started with a hot and sour soup that had a deeper flavor than most. The combination BBQ came next, and I expected this to be good considering the hanging meat in the case, and I was right - the roast duck was absolutely delicious with tasty fat and dark meat dancing together under a blanket of skin. While not as incredible as the duck, the roasted pork belly also did not disappoint with a crispy skin atop layered fat and moist muscle. Then out came the honey walnut shrimp, which is always a show stopper in most places, but was especially delicious here, with the shrimp perfectly cooked, slightly crispy outside, and covered with just enough of the honey sauce and appropriate amounts of glazed walnuts. Next was the House Special Pepper Steak. It came with snow peas and had a pepper sauce that was very peppery (in a good way) balanced with a ginger zing and a brown sauce to tie everything together. Truly delicious. The last dish that came out (which was a strange order but seemed to work well) was the Garlic Sautéed Snow Pea Leaves in a Superior Stock. I can attest to the fact the stock used was indeed superior. Wilted leaves with still a bit of a crunch to the stalks sautéed in a fantastic sauce, it was a great vegetable dish. Next time I want to try it with the preserved eggs. The meal ended with some complimentary orange slices, which was a nice way to clear my mouth and end the meal. This is my new favorite Cantonese restaurant in San Diego. Highly recommend.

We drive past this restaurant many times as a short-cut to get to H Mart. It's tucked away in the back of a busy strip mall of Asian restaurants, so it's hard to notice from the street. Well, last week, as we were cutting through the parking lot to get to H-Mart, we decided to give this place a try for lunch. Upon entering, we found a man semi-formally dressed, tidying up the place. It was completely empty, with white tablecloths, and honestly, it looked kind of fancy in there and too quiet. The man looked up and sat us at a table. He was super friendly and told us about their specials. We chose 4 entrees; house fried rice, salt and pepper chicken wings, tofu, chicken and salted fish in a clay pot, and Kung pao chicken. They had a ton of other things on the menu, but we opted for something more familiar on our first visit. After awhile, our food came out. Everything looked so good! Except that the tofu, fish, and chicken dish came in a metal pot instead of the clay pot. But nonetheless, hubby surprisingly liked it. The chicken wings were tasty, but slightly undercooked and not as crispy as I was hoping it to be. The house fried rice was a combination of shrimp and scallops - it was delicious! Very light and tasty. As for the Kung pao chicken, hubby and I agreed it was the highlight of what we ordered that day. So much so that we decided we would definitely come back. We definitely need to try other dishes on the menu and hopefully, they cook the chicken thoroughly next time. I have to admit that for lunch, I can't say that the prices were reasonable, especially if you're looking for a quick and cheap meal. Nowadays, it seems to be the norm for sit-down places. They do have specials, the service is friendly, and they give you orange slices at the end of your meal. We will be back!
